MEANWHILE IN NYC : TELL ME WHO I AM
Identity, Isolation & Human Presence — New York City ( 2003–2019 )
Produced over sixteen years of immersive observation in New York City (2003–2019), Meanwhile in NYC: Tell Me Who I Am explores the solitary struggle for identity within a towering, hyper-capitalist megalopolis.
In a city where radical individualism is both a prerequisite for survival and the metric of success, this series questions the place of the human body against an abrupt, grand, and unyielding architectural landscape.
The narrative moves between two complementary chapters:
CHAPTER I — 90 NIGHTS IN HARLEM │ The Nocturnal Body & Intimacy (Black & White Archive)
A dedicated nocturnal immersion exploring intimacy, body language, and community resilience in Upper Manhattan. Exhibited extensively in the 2000s, this foundational body of work anchors the overall project in a deeply human, sociological inquiry.
CHAPTER II — KROMAHTIK FIELDWORK │ The City The Legend (Color)
A vibrant collection of color field notes capturing spontaneous street encounters, urban presence, and the chromatic mythos of New York.
Created by Estelle Yaluner ( formerly Estelle Kromah ).
